Study Bioengineering to Make a Difference

You can earn a bachelor of science, a master of science, or a PhD in bioengineering at Mason. You also have options for accelerated master’s degrees in our program.

As an undergraduate, you will learn the foundations of engineering and health sciences, which will help you understand and successfully address real-world health care problems. You’ll get hands-on experience throughout the curriculum taught by engineers, scientists, clinicians, and industry experts, and you'll have many research opportunities culminating in your senior design project.

For our graduate students, Mason bioengineering offers world-class research opportunities in our concentration areas of Biomedical Imaging and Devices, Computational Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine, and Neurotechnology and Computational Neuroscience. Students work side-by-side with some of the best researchers in the world.

Our research opportunities span from basic research to clinical applications with experts in both technology and health sciences areas.

We have partnerships with biomedical, biotech and pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and national research centers in the Washington D.C. area, creating research collaborations as well as internship and job opportunities for our students.
